Anchor desalination

The most complete of the three anchors found is to be conserved this year. For this purpose, the wooden stock has already been separated from the iron shaft. The iron anchor part will now be desalinated in a bath of sodium hydroxide dissolved in water for several weeks. After that, it will be sent to a restoration workshop, where the concretions and efflorescences will first be carefully removed and the preserved iron then stabilised.
