Departing and arriving at the Airport Lübeck-Blankensee
There have been flight operations in Lübeck Blankensee since 1916, but it was not until 1996 that the airfield located in the south of Lübeck (international abbreviation "LBC") developed to become a serious airport, which has been the largest in the region since 2000. It is only just around 8 kilometres to the city centre and only 65 kilometres to the centre of Hamburg.
There are good infrastructural connections: the motorways A 1 and A 20 run near by. The terminal building is connected to the local bus route. There are plans for a train stop.
From here, two airlines operate the connections to London-Stanstead, Stockholm-Skavsta, Dublin, Pisa, Bergamo/Milan, Marseille and Danzig. There are plans for other airline connections.
