Lübeck's future: new districts
At the moment in the south of Lübeck, an entirely new university district is being constructed right next to the university and polytechnic on an area covering a total of 230 hectares; known as the "Vision Village", it is intended to combine working, research, residence and lifestyle.
The core of the "Vision Village" is the "Innovation Campus Lübeck", which, covering 8 hectares, offers sufficient space for enhanced knowledge and technology transfer between business and the university in the field of life science. The aim is to shorten drastically the cycle from the idea to the marketable product. For this purpose, there is to be a targeted programme of spin- offs from university research as start-ups, leading to technology-driven companies.
