The Timer is posted in mid-October, giving fully updated programme listings. Information on the films and screenings are listed by day, country and category, with a search option for ease and clarity. There is also a photograph and detailed description of each film in the programme and a PDF of the respective catalogue can be downloaded. In most cases, ticket bookings and box office sales are now just one click away from the respective programme information. Visitors to the site can now create their own personal programme planner using the programme information. Ticket bookings and box office sales can then be accessed directly from the planner by a one-click link. Use of the programme planner requires one-off registration with a valid e-mail address (no other data will be stored).

 

Festival Cinema: Refurbishment and Non-Smoking House

At this year’s Nordic Film Days the festival cinema CineStar Filmpalast Stadthalle presents itself in a radiant display of new colours: the entire entrance and foyer area has been freshly refurbished. Furthermore, the cinema is an entirely non-smoking building since 1st October. However, smoking areas can be found in front of the main entrance and through a side entrance of the cinema colonnade.

 

Film Prize Night in the Music and Congress Hall

The Awards of the Nordic Film Days Lübeck will be presented within the framework of a gala evening, organized in cooperation with Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein (FFHSH). On Saturday, 3rd November at 6.30 pm, the feature- and documentary film prizes of NFL will be awarded together with the North German Film Prize in three categories. Prominent guests from the film business and society are expected at this festive occasion. The presenter Ludger Abeln will moderate the evening. Stefan Gwildis will provide the musical accompaniment. Short film director Jasper Ahrens, whose award-winning short film “The Day Winston Ngakamba Came to Kiel” featured at the Nordic Film Days Lübeck in 2004 is once again director of the entire event.

 

Seminar for Media Education Experts

At the 49th Nordic Film Days Lübeck, the Bundesverband Jugend und Film and the Landesarbeitsgemeinschaft Jugend und Film Schleswig-Holstein are once again organizing a seminar which will offer media educators and operators of children’s and youth cinema events an opportunity to view and discuss new films and make recommendations. MEDIA Desk Co-Production Meeting

On occasion of the Nordic Film Days Lübeck, MEDIA Desk Germany is once again inviting selected producers looking for co-producers, distributors and representatives of the member states’ funding institutions to its annual co-production get together. It will take place on 2.11. at 5.30 pm in the "Schabbelhaus" in Mengstraße 48-52. Additionally, MEDIA Desk Germany is hosting a first workshop on the topic of “big films for little people”, also taking place on 2.11., from 3 to 5pm in the “Diele” in Mengstraße 41. Here, representatives from all industry branches can discuss the possibilities, challenges and developments of Nordic and German children’s film productions. German-Scandinavian Scriptwriting Workshop

The scriptwriting workshop at this year’s Filmforum Schleswig- Holstein offers a unique opportunity for a German- Scandinavian cultural exchange.
The two-hour event, initiated by the association of German screenwriters Verband Deutscher Drehbuchautoren and the funding institution Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein, takes place on 03.11.2007 at 11 am in the festival cinema CineStar Filmpalast Stadthalle. Chaired by the experienced screenwriter Arne Sommer from Lübeck, there will be a reading of three texts by Scandinavian and German authors, a screening of film excerpts and a professional discussion thereof. The seminar will come to a close at an ensuing get-together. Besides an exchange of experience and critique, the scriptwriting seminar also serves the establishing of networks among the film cultures of Scandinavia and Schleswig-Holstein. The event takes place in the English language. Admission is free of charge; tickets are available at the cinema ticket counter. DOK Film Round 

The German documentary filmmakers’ group AG DOK is inviting all documentary filmmakers to gather at the New York Bar in the CineStar Filmpalast Stadthalle from Thursday, 1 November, to Sunday, 4 November, in the time between 1 pm and 7 pm for an exchange of views and experience and an informal discussion round on documentary filmmaking.
