Stella and her boyfriend Toni occupy a universe of parties, drugs, and petty crime, which seems considerably more alluring than the world of school and family that Magnea knows. The young girl joins with her new friends in robbing men who answer lonely hearts ads. Once a straight-A student, Magnea is drawn deeper and deeper into that milieu and, by the time her parents realise what’s happening with their daughter, it’s too late. Magnea’s new-found sense of freedom doesn’t last long. She encounters the wrong men and descends into a hell from which her family tries to rescue her in vain. “Let Me Fall” is not only a gut-wrenching look at a young person destroying her life. It also depicts what becomes of the protagonists years later. The film is one of the most disturbing portrayals of the world of drugs and self-destruction since Darren Aronofsky’s “Requiem for a Dream”.
