Worlds collide as Patrick and Astrid prepare to say “I do” in Italy. He is the son of a tough businessman who owns an estate on the coast of Amalfi, she is the daughter of a hairdresser who suffers from cancer and an unfaithful husband. When Ida rams Philip's limo on her way to the wedding, the bridal couple's parents are already in conflict with each other before they have even been introduced. But to everyone's surprise the grumpy widower and the brave cancer patient soon get on increasingly well, while the planned romantic wedding takes a unforeseen turn: Old conflicts are dissolved, new ties are delicately created, surprising new avowals are in the air. “That's what family is all about. There's always someone crazy involved,” is the final conclusion of this romantic comedy full of turbulences and bittersweet moments by the Oscar-winning team Susanne Bier and Anders Thomas Jensen (“In a Better World”.
